ClassFind ("we", "us", "our") operates classfind-three.vercel.app, a platform that connects students with teachers in Sri Lanka. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used.
1. Information We Collect
When you use ClassFind, we may collect:
- Account information: your name and email address when you register.
- Contact information: phone number, WhatsApp number, and Gmail address, provided when you request access to a course or contact a teacher.
- Payment receipts: images/screenshots of payment confirmations you upload when paying a teacher for a course.
- Profile information (teachers): bio, subjects, qualifications, banking details for receiving payments, and profile/banner photos.
- Usage information: basic technical data such as IP address, used only for security purposes like rate-limiting login attempts and preventing abuse.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To connect students and teachers for course enrollment
- To verify payments and approve course access
- To send essential emails: email verification, password resets, and approval notifications
- To protect the platform from spam, fraud, and abuse
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Who Can See Your Information
- Teachers can see the contact details (name, phone, WhatsApp, Gmail) of students who request access to their courses, so they can coordinate class access.
- Students can see a teacher's public profile information (bio, subjects, contact/WhatsApp link) that the teacher has chosen to publish.
- ClassFind admins can view account and payment information to approve teachers, verify payments, and resolve disputes.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Neon (a managed PostgreSQL database provider) and Vercel Blob (for uploaded images). Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard practices such as rate limiting and secure authentication to protect your account.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate ClassFind:
- Google — for optional sign-in via Google OAuth
- Resend — for sending verification and password reset emails
- Vercel — for hosting the website and storing uploaded files
- Upstash — for rate-limiting to prevent abuse (does not store personal data long-term)
These providers only receive the minimum data necessary to perform their function.
6. Your Choices
- You can update your profile information at any time from your dashboard.
- You can request that we delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
- You can choose not to provide optional profile information (e.g. social media links).
7. Children's Privacy
ClassFind is intended for A/L and university-level students and teachers. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as ClassFind grows. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
